En ella se narran los contrastes entre las formas de pensar de los orientales frente a los occidentales, chinos versus norteamericanos, y al mismo tiempo, la lucha generacional entre los emigrantes reci\u00e9n llegados y sus hijos nacidos en tierras extra\u00f1as, que ya se consideran del pa\u00eds de acogida.Se nos presenta a un se\u00f1or Wang, muy tradicional, a pesar de haber vivido varios a\u00f1os en Estados Unidos, huyendo de los comunistas chinos, que del ingl\u00e9s s\u00f3lo sabe decir s\u00ed o no. Al hablar de los nativos del pa\u00eds, los llama extranjeros, y se niega a vestir a la occidental. Durante la novela, vemos esa lucha contra la occidentalizaci\u00f3n, que se plasmar\u00e1 en un contrato que firma su padre para casar a su hijo con una china a la que s\u00f3lo conoce por una foto, y en su negativa a ser curado de una tos cr\u00f3nica porque piensa que le confiere autoridad, y menos ser tratado en una cl\u00ednica occidental.Pero no siempre salen las cosas como los hombres, o las tradiciones disponen.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>C.
