Con Paisaje de oto\u00f1o, Leonardo Padura cierra brillantemente la serie de cuatro novelas protagonizadas por el teniente investigador Conde, que ahora, a punto de cumplir treinta y seis a\u00f1os, intuye que est\u00e1 cerr\u00e1ndose una etapa de su vida y que se aproxima el momento de tomar decisiones quiz\u00e1s irrevocables.Una noche de oto\u00f1o, unos pescadores descubren un cad\u00e1ver en la playa del Chivo, en La Habana. La v\u00edctima, Miguel Forcade Mier, ha sido asesinada con una sa\u00f1a brutal, casi inexplicable. Este crimen remover\u00e1 una antigua trama de corrupciones y viejas ambiciones frustradas, ya que, en efecto, en los a\u00f1os sesenta Forcade hab\u00eda dirigido oficialmente las expropiaciones de bienes art\u00edsticos requisados a la burgues\u00eda tras la Revoluci\u00f3n. Pero, despu\u00e9s de acumular poder, influencia y, seguramente, no pocas envidias y resentimientos, en 1978 Forcade decide, sin motivo aparente, sumarse al exilio de Miami. Sin embargo, poco antes de su asesinato, hab\u00eda vuelto misteriosamente a Cuba, casi como si hubiera querido recuperar algo muy valioso y cuya existencia s\u00f3lo \u00e9l conoc\u00eda\u2026A medida que avanza una azarosa investigaci\u00f3n repleta de pistas, equ\u00edvocos y sospechas m\u00e1s o menos fundadas, el autor recrea la cr\u00f3nica de una generaci\u00f3n \u2014la suya y la del Conde\u2014, obligada a preguntarse con creciente inquietud qu\u00e9 fue de tantos ideales.
