Fue escrita en 1914 y publicada en enero de 1915. A decir del historiador peruano Jorge Basadre, el aporte hist\u00f3rico de esta obra es intrascendente, pero en cambio, si lo tiene en el plano literario. En ese sentido es una peque\u00f1a obra maestra escrita cuando su autor apenas ten\u00eda 26 a\u00f1os de edad.
