Desde los miserables inicios en Baltimore, los primeros trabajos como criada, el intento de violaci\u00f3n a los diez a\u00f1os, la prostituci\u00f3n, la discriminaci\u00f3n racial, la drogadicci\u00f3n, los m\u00faltiples pleitos y estancias en la c\u00e1rcel, el enga\u00f1o por parte de casi todos los hombres que la trataron, su vida aparece jalonada por una serie de episodios que fraguaron su leyenda.
