En ella se relatan las peripecias de navegantes tan importantes para la Historia naval como Cayetano Vald\u00e9s, Felipe Bauz\u00e1 o Alcal\u00e1 Galiano, entre otros. Dos corbetas com ienzan un viaje extraordinario en el puerto de C\u00e1diz una ma\u00f1ana de Julio de 1789. Ser\u00e1n cinco a\u00f1os de navegaci\u00f3n por el mundo durante los que se les dar\u00e1 nombre a lugares remotos que no figuraban ni en mapas ni cartas. Superar\u00e1n pavorosas tormentas que pondr\u00e1n a prueba la voluntad de los hombres y la resisitencia de las naves. Pero tambi\u00e9n es un viaje en el que un hombre aparentemente insignificante, criado de los oficiales, hace realidad su sue\u00f1o. Malaspina y sus expedicionarios est\u00e1n a la altura de los grandes.
