La novela reconstruye, dramatizadamente, la desaparici\u00f3n y muerte del ni\u00f1o Pedr\u00edn Bravo, as\u00ed como la investigaci\u00f3n del crimen, la asignaci\u00f3n de culpables, la reconstrucci\u00f3n del Juicio por Jurados Populares -que tuvo lugar tambi\u00e9n en El Escorial-, as\u00ed como el ambiente social, e hist\u00f3rico, del momento.
