Durante la \u00e9poca en que Pericles rigi\u00f3 los destinos de Atenas (siglo V a.C.), \u00e9sta conoci\u00f3 uno de sus m\u00e1s brillantes florecimientos pol\u00edticos, econ\u00f3micos y art\u00edsticos. Mediante el recurso de unas supuestas memorias de Anax\u00e1goras, el maestro de Pericles, Rex Warner ofrece al lector no s\u00f3lo una completa reconstrucci\u00f3n del momento de mayor esplendor ateniense y una ajustada biograf\u00eda del personaje, sino tambi\u00e9n un agudo examen moral sobre el poder y las consecuencias de las diversas formas de ejercerlo. La historia nos la cuenta el filosofo Anex\u00e1goras.. pero el relato aunque corto est\u00e1 lleno de figuras de lo que fue llamado el siglo de Pericles, una \u00e9poca de esplendor entre las Guerras M\u00e9dicas y las del Peloponeso.
