Si en El Conde de Montecristo Edmundo Dant\u00e9s lleva a cabo su venganza contra aquellos que arruinaron su vida, rompieron su historia de amor y lo condenaron a sufrir presidio en el famoso penal de la isla de If, ahora, en esta soberbia continuaci\u00f3n de la m\u00e1s famosa obra de Dumas, ser\u00e1 Benedetto, hijo de una de las v\u00edctimas de la venganza de Edmundo, el que ahora profana la tumba de su padre, le corta al cad\u00e1ver una mano -la mano del muerto- y jura tomar venganza sobre el conde de Montecristo. A partir de este momento la novela, como un follet\u00edn vertiginoso, nos ir\u00e1 contando c\u00f3mo el vengador va dando los pasos oportunos para cumplir su venganza.
