De forma paralela al descubrimiento de Am\u00e9rica por Crist\u00f3bal Col\u00f3n, Alonso de Lugo conquista la Isla de la Palma, la pen\u00faltima de las siete Islas Canarias que a\u00fan no hab\u00eda sido sometida a los Reyes Cat\u00f3licos. En 1492 llega De Lugo con tres nav\u00edos a la costa occidental de la isla. En Benahoare, como los guanches llamaban a La Palma, el pueblo se une a Tanaus\u00fa, el rey de la tribu de \u00c1cero y guardi\u00e1n del Roque Santo, para preparar la resistencia.
