Fue galardonada con el Premio Akutagawa, el m\u00e1s importante galard\u00f3n de su pa\u00eds. En ella se relata la historia de la relaci\u00f3n ad\u00faltera entre un hombre casado, Josuk\u00e9, y una mujer divorciada, en tres cartas dirigidas a Josuk\u00e9. La primera, procedente de la hija de la amante, que ha le\u00eddo el diario de su madre y que, por tanto, sabe su secreto y las causas de su muerte. En la segunda, la mujer leg\u00edtima explica las razones por las que ha decidido abandonarle. La tercera carta e la escrita por la amante antes de su suicidio. En el centro, omnipresente, el hombre solitario con su escopeta de caza.
