En 1754, un joven de Virginia asaltaba un destacamento franc\u00e9s en misi\u00f3n diplom\u00e1tica, y al a\u00f1o siguiente, los brit\u00e1nicos proced\u00edan a la deportaci\u00f3n de colonos franceses. Como consecuencia de aquello, una escuadra zarp\u00f3 de Brest para defender los dominios franceses en Am\u00e9rica. Inglaterra respondi\u00f3 sin dilaci\u00f3n, enviando regimientos constituidos principalmente por irlandeses y escoceses. Pero en los corazones de muchos de aquellos soldados perduraba a\u00fan el rencor hacia la corona inglesa, de la que s\u00f3lo hab\u00edan recibido hambre, dolor y humillaciones, y con aqu\u00e9l, el esp\u00edritu de los fiannas los m\u00edticos guerreros celtas del oeste de las Highlands. Aqu\u00e9l era el caso de Alexander Macdonald, hijo de Duncan Coll y nieto de Liam y Caitlin Macdonald quien tras huir de los terribles enfrentamientos entre clanes habidos en el valle de Glencoe, decide alistarse en el batall\u00f3n escoc\u00e9s de los Fraser-Highlanders, destinado a la reconquista de la Nueva Francia.
