Los doctores en un principio le aconsejan leer con ayuda de una enorme lente de aumento, y posteriormente le recetan llevar anteojos. A pesar de que su visi\u00f3n mejora, no puede evitar el sentirse demasiado cansando y leer se convierte para \u00e9l en una actividad cada vez m\u00e1s fatigosa. En 1939, el autor de \u201cCiego en Gaza\u201d pone en pr\u00e1ctica las nuevas teor\u00edas sobre educaci\u00f3n visual del doctor W. H. Bates y en s\u00f3lo un par de meses ya puede leer sin necesidad de usar lentes. Tampoco se cansa leyendo y su visi\u00f3n de cosas lejanas se va haciendo cada vez m\u00e1s clara. Curiosidad escrita por Huxley que preludia el futuro g\u00e9nero de la autoayuda.
